How the literary character of Count Dracula took shapeīram Stoker’s earliest dated Notes for his novel Dracula were written as far back as 8 March 1890 ( Dracula was originally published on ). I hope it will be an enlightening and fun read for you. So here we go, looking at Bram Stoker’s notes and at how he portrayed his literary character Count Dracula and comparing them to what historical documents and sources tell us about Vlad the Impaler the man, aka Vlad Dracula, Vlad III, Voivode of Wallachia. If my scientific background taught me anything, is to research and draw my own conclusions. Like many of you, I know that the opinions are divided between scholars and fans who believe that Stoker used Vlad the Impaler as his inspiration for Dracula, and those who do not. I was reading through the notes Bram Stoker made prior to writing his gothic Dracula novel – the originals should be in Rosenbach Museum & Library of Philadelphia. 5/13/2023 0 Comments Under the dome novelHowever, the directors of the TV show considered that the pink stars falling nonsense and the four hands security that must kill Big Jim would be much more interesting. The whole deep point of this novel is the power that drives people towards committing horrible things. I mean guys, have you opened the book? I’ve got the feeling that the directors only took the names of the characters and the motive of the dome. Finally, my next step was watching the second season of the series. As a result, the novel was fabulous as always and the TV show made me quite angry. And I did.Īfter the first season, I wasn’t impressed and all this egg thing kind of perplexed me. First, I decided to watch the series and understand all the fuss around it. To tell the truth, when I heard that there would be a TV show “Under the Dome”, I hadn’t covered the book yet and that wasn’t my priority. And I have all the necessary things to hold that title: clear book weight, a waterproof book cover bath bag and a handmade reading nook. So, as you’ve already got it, I am a true reading geek. But when you present yourself as a reading geek it certainly takes you to another level. It doesn’t mean that “I love reading” sounds lame. You know I like the word geek because you can fit it to any other word and make it sound cool. 5/13/2023 0 Comments Babycakes armistead maupinJack London: The Assassination Bureau Ltd. In rare cases, entire worlds have been cut off from the rest of humanity. Just as a river changes course, The Flow changes as well. It’s a hedge against interstellar war―and, for the empire’s rulers, a system of control. A new empire arises, the Interdependency, based on the doctrine that no one human outpost can survive without the others. Riding The Flow, humanity spreads to innumerable other worlds. Faster than light travel is impossible―until the discovery of The Flow, an extradimensional field available at certain points in space-time, which can take us to other planets around other stars. Missing is the casual, humorous, first-person soldier’s perspective in a war. Synopsis: Our universe is ruled by physics. (written and illustrated by Ngozi Ukazu)Įric Bittle may be a former junior figure skating champion, vlogger extraordinaire, and very talented amateur pâtissier, but being a freshman on the Samwell University hockey team is a whole new challenge. It’s a well-written, immensely enjoyable rom-com, and it’s also a delightful exploration of male friendship, a really funny coming of age story, and an exciting look into the softer side of hockey culture. If you travel in certain parts of Twitter and Tumblr, you’ve probably heard of Check, Please! – though you’ve likely heard it referred to as “that story about the gay hockey players.” And, to be fair, that’s totally true. 5/13/2023 0 Comments Slade House by David MitchellBut what really goes on inside Slade House?
